It had been a rough week and all Buffy Summers wanted to do, was kick back and relax. Her friends had invited her to Kellerman's Books for
the evening. It was a local coffee shop, where people could dance or just spend quiet time, and Buffy gladly accepted the invite. So that evening, around eight, she walked into Kellerman's and scanned the crowd for her friends. She smiled at a few people she recognized from school and the local gym she taught a class at. Willow and Tara waved to get Buffy's attention. Buffy waved back and then walked over to their table.
"Hey guys!" she exclaimed, hugging them both.
"Hi Buffy! Boy it's busy tonight, isn't it?" Willow replied, hugging Buffy back. Buffy nodded, then sat down between the two girls. They chatted about everyday things, while waiting for the waitress to come over and get their order. Tara and Willow had also invited Xander and a couple of other friends to join them. By the time the waitress finally made it to the table where the three girls sat, Xander, Oz, Cordelia, and William, had shown up.
"Sorry about the long wait, but it's super crazy tonight. Plus we're short a waiter...so what'll everyone have?" Tonya, the waitress explained. Oz ordered a round of mochas for the guys and the ladies ordered frappeccinos for themselves. They all thanked Tonya, as she went to place their orders.
"So Buff, what's new in the world of slaying? Any baddies new to town that we should know about?" Xander asked, slapping Buffy on the back in a friendly gesture. Buffy glared at him, and then laughed at his "puppy dog" look.
"Nothin' much, really. Saved a guy a couple nights ago from a pack of vamps. He was as good as Vamp Chow, too," she replied.
"Wow, Buffy. Good thing you were able to save him...was he cute?" Cordy asked. Xander rolled his eyes....he and Cordy were engaged in an on-again, off-again romance. Currently, it was on-again, but she still checked out other guys.
"Yes, Cordy. He was the epitome of hunky godliness. I begged him to marry me and whisk me off to France," Buffy replied deadpan. The others all snickered, except Cordy. Oz asked Willow to dance, so the two of them headed off to the area set up for dancing. William dragged Tara off to dance, leaving Buffy behind with Xander and Cordy. Cordy mostly ignored her other half, and instead flirted outrageously with a good looking guy a few tables over. Xander made
googly eyes at Buffy, who made kissy-faces back at him.
Just then, Buffy sat up straight and paid close attention to a man who had just walked into Kellerman's. Xander pouted, then focused his attention on Cordy. Buffy giggled when Xander whispered something into Cordy's ear, which caused the brunette's eyes to widen. Cordy grabbed his hand and the two of them flew out of the shop. The man who'd caught Buffy's attention a few minutes before, had spotted her and was headed her way.
"Hello again. I believe we met a few nights ago? My name is Rupert Giles," the man spoke, extending his hand to her. She shook it, then indicated for him to have a seat.
"Hello Rupert Giles. I do believe you're right about us meeting a few nights ago. How is everything?" she replied.
"Everything is fine, thank you. How is everything for you?"
"It's good, thanks. So, what brings you to Kellerman's tonight?"
"The Espresso Pump is closed for remodeling and since I usually perform there a few nights a week, I'm at a loss of what to do with my free evenings. I had overheard one of my students mention Kellerman's, and so here I am."
"Cool....wanna dance?" she grinned. He smiled, then took her hand and led her to the floor.

When the evening had come to an end, Rupert walked Buffy to her jeep. She asked him how he'd be getting home, and he informed her that he'd gotten his car fixed. She told him she'd follow him home, just in
case, causing him to grin ruefully.
*******************
It didn't occur to him until he was in bed later that night, that he'd met the attractive blonde woman twice now, yet still hadn't a clue of as to what her name was. Perhaps the next time they met, he'd find out? He certainly hoped so.
THE END(For now???)
