She was crying softly, and it nearly broke his heart. He went over to
where she sat and pulled her into his lap. Giles placed gentle kisses
in her sweet smelling hair. Louise couldn't believe he was leaving
her. They'd been friends for nearly six months, and lovers for the
past four. He was her first love and she knew he loved her as well.
Giles and Louise were so happy together. They spent all of their free
time together, and had discussed everything; including moving in
together. He'd told her of his life in California, even about Buffy.
Not that she was a Vampire Slayer, or that she had died and come back
to life (twice), only that she was a very dear friend.
Louise had told Rupert of her life before moving to England. Of her
siblings and parents and how she'd tired of the men she'd dated, of
them never being committed to making a relationship work with her.
She told him how she'd gotten fed up with her mother always making
her feel worthless and accusing her of being a failure. Rupert had
held her close during the crying session after that revelation. They
were closer than he'd ever imagined they could be and he only wished
he didn't have to leave her. He was frightened he might not make it
back to her.
"Louise, Luv...I wish that I didn't have to leave. If I could stay
here with you always, I would do so in a heart beat. Please believe
that, " he whispered in her ear. She hiccupped and continued crying.
Her arms clung around his neck and his arms clung to her waist. She
kissed his cheek, he turned and caught her lips with his in an
intense kiss. Louise sighed and thrust her tongue into his mouth. He
groaned softly, and tangled his tongue with hers. The kiss lingered
until both of them needed to catch their breath.
He swept her into his arms, and carried her into his bedroom. They
slowly undressed each other and then made sweet, tender, love for the
rest of the night. Both clinging to each other, knowing they might
not have this again for months or years. Each person recording every
sigh, touch, smell, and whispered endearment for all of the lonely
nights that would follow. And when they at last fell asleep, they
continued to cling to each other.

Early the next morning, he slipped out of bed, being careful not to
disturb her. He jogged to the corner market and bought a large floral
bouquet for his beloved. He also bought a blank greeting card, with a
portrait of two lovers embracing in a kiss on the front. As he headed
home, he brainstormed on how to express the wealth of emotion he felt
for Louise, in a few words. Giles slipped into the flat, made a cup
of tea, and then began writing in the card. He spoke of love, joy,
sorrow, soulmates, marriage of the heart, and every other emotion
that he'd felt the entire time he'd felt since meeting her.

Louise awoke to the sounds of singing and was that pancakes she
smelled? What was Rupert singing? She listened closer and grinned at
the lyrics, "That's right, the woman is smarter, that's right, the
woman is smarter, that's right, the woman is smarter, smarter than a
man in every way, smarter than the man, smarter than the man, smarter
than the man in every way, hey!" He started a new song and when she
heard it, she gasped, for it was a song that was very close to them.
One they'd danced to on their first official date. "Unforgettable",
by Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole.(The duet version.) Everytime they
heard it there after, they'd sing it to each other.
Giles continued singing, as he walked into the bedroom, carrying the
breakfast tray. He stopped when he noticed that she was awake. Louise
sat up against the headboard, and he put the tray over her lap. The
bouquet from earlier, along with the card, were on the tray next to
the plate of blueberry pancakes and glass of milk. She wrinkled her
nose, and recognizing the signal, he kissed her good morning.
"Oh, Rupert! The flowers are so pretty! I bet you know the name and
meaning of each one, don't you?" she asked. He smiled smugly and then
pointed to each flower, naming it and its' meaning for her. There
were: Bluebells for Everlasting love, White Camellias for Perfected
loveliness and "You're a flame in my heart", Daffodils for "The sun
shines when I'm with you" and "You're the only one", a Fern leaf for
Sincerity and Magic, a Gloxinia for Love at first sight, a Narcissus
for Stay as sweet as you are, Primroses for I can't live without you,
Red and White Roses for Unity, and of course, Forget-Me-Nots.
She had tears streaming down her face when he finished. He kissed
them away and then fed her bites of pancake, stealing kisses in
between. She shared the pancakes with him. When they were done, he
put the tray on the floor, placing the flowers on the bedside table.
The card he gave to her and she put it by the flowers to read later.
"Rupert...will you make love to me again?"
"I'd best not love, you must be terribly sore from last night's fun."
She pouted, then grinned lecherously at him. He frowned and wondered
what she was up to. Louise crawled off the bed and went over to the
armoire. She reached into the top drawer and then walked into the
bathroom. When she came out a few seconds later, Giles almost fainted
on the spot. Louise was wearing a red teddy and a naughty grin. She
snickered at his facial expression, then did a bump and grind over to
where he sat. Louise urged him to sit at the edge of the bed, then
she dropped to her knees and crawled in between his legs. He gasped
as she began rocking his world....

"ATTENTION ALL PASSENGERS, WE ARE PREPARING TO LAND. PLEASE MAKE SURE
YOUR TRAY TABLES ARE UP AND THAT YOUR SEATS ARE IN THE FULL UPRIGHT
POSITION. PLEASE ALSO NOTE THE SEATBELT LIGHT IS NOW ON, SO MAKE SURE
TO FASTEN YOUR SEATBELTS."
Giles jolted up in his seat...talk about a rude awakening. He
couldn't believe he'd slept for the last part of the
flight...although the dream had been quite lovely. Lord he missed
her, and he prayed he'd be able to see her again someday. The plane
bounced as it landed on the runway and when it came to a stop, he
waited somewhat impatiently for his chance to depart from the plane.
Around twenty minutes later, he'd made it through the airport and was
on his way to the Magic Box in a cab. It was time to face a new
foe...a new enemy...one he'd once been friends with.
The cab pulled up two buildings away from the Magic Box. He paid the
driver, then braced himself for the upcoming confrontation and
battle...he could hear voices coming from inside. Buffy was talking
to someone and there was Willow. Or rather, the thing formerly known
as Willow. He listened close as she spoke.
"Buffy...I gotta tell ya...I get it now. The Slayer thing really
isn't about the violence."
Giles strained to hear what was going on, waiting for the right time
to make his entrance. Willow spoke again, then he heard a noise and
then Willow said,
"And there's no one in the world with the power to stop me now."
He burst through the door and zapped Willow from the side. She went
flying across the room and slid after hitting the floor. She stopped
sliding, and lifted her head. She looked shocked at where the magic
had come from. He stood there in the doorway and said in a voice
devoid of any real emotion.
"I'd like to test that theory."
